How long does A2P 10DLC approval take? Reddit vs reality

A2P 10DLC approval in GoHighLevel is two clearances: a brand check in 24-72 hours (Sole Prop) or 3-15 business days (Standard), then a campaign review capped at 3 working days under Fast Track. We checked the r/gohighlevel timeline claims, from the '14 HOURS' brags to the 'all week' despair, against GHL, TCR, and Twilio docs, and here's why rejections blow the whole thing up.

A2P 10DLC approval in GoHighLevel is two clearances, not one. The brand check typically clears in 24 to 72 hours on Sole Proprietor and 3 to 15 business days on Standard. The campaign check that follows is capped at three working days under GHL’s Fast Track program, down from the old 7 to 10 days, and carriers need about three more business days to propagate before throughput is full.

The catch is rejections. Each failed submission restarts the wait, so a clean first submission is what actually keeps you near that window.

We’re not affiliated with Reddit. Quotes below are short excerpts from public threads, attributed and linked to their authors. Threads were reviewed in July 2026, and some advice was accurate when posted and has since been outdated by rule changes, which is rather the point.

The real timeline, in numbers

A2P registration is two approvals, not one: a brand check (who you are) and a campaign check (what you’re going to send). Both have to clear before your numbers can send. Here is what each actually takes, from published documentation and the submissions we see rather than thread folklore.

Stage What it is How long
Brand approval, Sole Proprietor The identity check on a no-EIN Sole Prop brand Typically 24 to 72 hours (our Sole Prop guide)
Brand approval, Standard The identity check when an EIN has to verify Typically 3 to 15 business days
Secondary vetting, if no Trust Score comes back The extra manual review GHL escalates to Up to 7 business days (GHL)
Campaign approval, GHL Fast Track The campaign review for Native Phone System accounts Capped at 3 working days (GHL changelog)
Campaign review, general TCR’s own quoted window outside Fast Track 1 to 4 weeks (TCR)
Carrier propagation after approval Your registration reaching every carrier before full throughput About 3 business days
Each rejection cycle adds The same tier clock, re-run after you resubmit 1 to 3 days (Sole Prop) / 3 to 15 days (Standard)
A stubborn rejection chain Several cycles back to back Can stretch registration to 4 to 6 weeks

Two facts explain almost every “it took me X” story you’ll read. First, GHL’s A2P Fast Track program took effect November 1, 2024, and it “reduces the time required to approve A2P campaigns from 7-10 days to a maximum of 3 working days” for accounts on the Native Phone System. So a thread from before that date describes a slower world than the one you’re registering in now. Second, none of these numbers assume a rejection. The moment your submission bounces, the clock starts over, and the review only ever names the first problem it finds. That is why the same product feels like a three-day job for one agency and a month-long ordeal for the next.

What Reddit gets right

The calmest voices in these threads were already close to the truth, even before Fast Track existed.

On a September 2024 thread asking exactly this question, u/Vegetable_Act1805 wrote:

“How long does A2P verification (both brand and campaign) typically take nowadays? I’m concerned this might significantly delay my onboarding process.”

Two answers held up. u/MedalofHonour15 said “3 days or less usually. A few weeks if a backlog”, and u/patrick24601 said “Plan on it. Sometimes a week. Sometimes three. Plan on 4 and then be happy when it’s early.” Both were posted a month or two before Fast Track shipped, and both aged well. “Three days or less” is now roughly what the Fast Track cap guarantees on a clean submission, and “plan for four weeks, be happy when it’s early” is the correct way to budget a client onboarding when a rejection or a backlog is always possible. Buffer for the worst case, expect the base case.

What Reddit gets wrong

1. “Got 7 A2P accounts approved in 14 HOURS”

The fastest number on Reddit comes from a sales pitch. In May 2025, u/Active-Ad-5652 posted a title reading “Got 7 A2P 10DLC Accounts Approved in 14 HOURS - Yes, for a U.S. Business!” with the body “Fastest Approval You’ll See - Message Me to Get Yours Setup Today!”

Nobody registering a campaign controls how fast the review runs. The review is done downstream by the carriers and their vetting chain, and on GHL the campaign step is capped at three working days regardless of who clicks submit. A “14 hours” headline is a hook to get you into a DM, not a service anyone can sell you, because the speed isn’t theirs to sell. If a fixer promises a review time, they’re promising something they don’t control. Some campaigns do clear in under a day when everything lines up. That’s the review chain being fast, not a paid shortcut.

2. “The review takes over a week now, it used to be 2-3 days”

In an April 2025 thread titled “A2P Got Harder??”, u/PuzzleheadedPea4361 described campaigns that used to sail through getting denied, and u/Bluusebi68 added: “the review process now takes over a week, when in the past it was 2-3 days for Toll Free.”

Two things are tangled here. Toll-free verification and 10DLC A2P are separate registration tracks with separate clocks, so a past toll-free turnaround doesn’t predict a current 10DLC one. And “it got harder” mostly means “more rejections”, not “slower reviews”. The original poster’s campaigns were being denied, not left pending. A denial isn’t a long review, it’s a short review with a bad ending that sends you back to the start. The way to keep a 10DLC campaign near the three-day Fast Track cap is to not trip the rejection that adds a second cycle on top of it.

3. “I’ve been trying all week”

The most common timeline complaint isn’t a number, it’s exhaustion. In a May 2025 thread, u/BlackIronMan_ opened with “So I’ve tried to have my campaign approved for A2P all week and at this point I’ve given up.”

“All week” is what the rejection loop feels like from the inside. He had a Privacy Policy and Terms in place, but the campaign kept bouncing, and buried mid-thread was the actual reason: a USE_CASE_DESCRIPTION rejection, meaning the description was too vague or didn’t match the samples. Each round cost him another 1 to 3 days (Sole Prop) or 3 to 15 days (Standard) of waiting, and the review only ever flagged one issue at a time. The base review was never the problem. The cycles were. Our full field reference and the companion Reddit rejection roundup decode that exact error and the rest of the documented ones.

4. “My EIN isn’t 45 days old, so I keep getting denied”

On that same thread, u/Assist-Senior wrote: “I keep getting denied because my EIN isn’t 45 days old.”

There is no fixed 45-day (or 15-day) threshold. A brand-new EIN takes a few weeks to propagate into the registries the brand check verifies against, and GHL’s brand-approval guidance is to wait at least 30 days from issuance before retrying, or to skip the wait and file the $11 identity appeal with your complete CP-575 PDF (partial uploads get appeals rejected). So this is a waiting question, not a countdown to a magic number. The flagship Reddit roundup walks through the full EIN correction, and the Sole Proprietor guide covers registering without an EIN at all.

Why the timeline stories never agree

Read enough threads and the numbers look random: 14 hours here, over a week there, “all week” and giving up somewhere else. They’re not random. They’re different situations quoted as if they were one:

  • Posts from before November 2024 describe the pre-Fast-Track 7-to-10-day world.
  • Toll-free timelines get quoted for 10DLC campaigns and vice versa.
  • “It took a month” almost always means “I got rejected two or three times”, not “the review is slow”.
  • Sole Prop and Standard have different turnarounds, and nobody says which one they’re on.

The single biggest variable in your own timeline isn’t the carrier’s queue. It’s whether your first submission is clean.

What to actually do

  1. Assume Fast Track, plan for a rejection anyway. Budget three working days for a clean campaign, and pad the client’s onboarding to four weeks so a bounce doesn’t break a promise you made.
  2. Know which track you’re on. Sole Proprietor and Standard have different turnarounds, and 10DLC A2P is a different clock from toll-free verification. Don’t use one thread’s number to predict the other’s.
  3. Don’t pay for a review time. Manual campaign vetting is run downstream by the carriers’ vetting chain, per Twilio’s documentation. Nobody in a DM can make that queue move faster.
  4. Fix the whole submission before you resubmit. The review stops at the first problem, so fixing only the cited line surfaces the next one on your next attempt, costing another full cycle. Resubmitting a corrected campaign is free. The expensive part is the wait, not the fee.

Easy A2P reads your whole submission the way the reviewers do, before you submit. Paste your brand and campaign content and a Review flags every documented rejection pattern in it, field by field, with the specific rule that fired. When a section fails, Fix (1 credit) rewrites it, corrected and re-checked, ready to paste. That’s how you stay near the three-day Fast Track cap instead of restarting the clock. Run your first review free with 3 credits on signup, no card. Nobody can approve your registration except the carriers and their review chain. We just make sure the preventable stuff never reaches them. Ship it Clean!

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does A2P 10DLC approval take in GoHighLevel? +
Brand and campaign are two separate approvals, and both must clear before your numbers can send. The brand check typically clears in 24 to 72 hours on Sole Proprietor and 3 to 15 business days on Standard. On the Native Phone System, GHL's Fast Track program then caps campaign approval at three working days, down from the old 7 to 10 days, and carriers take about three more business days to propagate the registration before throughput is full. A rejection restarts the wait, so a clean first submission is what keeps you near that window.
Reddit says people got approved in 14 hours. Is that real? +
Some campaigns do clear in under a day, but you can't buy it. The "14 hours" and "fastest approval you'll see" posts are pitches from paid fixers, and campaign review is run downstream by the carriers' vetting chain, not by whoever submits. On GHL the campaign step is capped at three working days regardless. Treat any promised review time as a sales hook.
Why did my A2P approval take over a week when others say 2-3 days? +
Usually one of three reasons: you were rejected and are counting the resubmission cycles, you're comparing a 10DLC timeline to a toll-free one (separate tracks, separate clocks), or the quote you read predates GHL's November 2024 Fast Track program. The base campaign review is short. Rejection cycles are what stretch it.
Does my EIN have to be 45 days old before A2P approval? +
No. There is no fixed 45-day or 15-day threshold. A new EIN takes a few weeks to propagate into the registries the brand check reads, and GHL advises waiting at least 30 days before retrying, or filing the $11 identity appeal with your complete CP-575 PDF. The "45 days" number is thread folklore, not a rule.
How long does Sole Proprietor A2P take versus Standard? +
Both go through the same two-step brand and campaign review. In practice each rejection cycle runs about 1 to 3 days for Sole Proprietor and 3 to 15 days for Standard, and a Sole Proprietor brand check is simpler because there's no EIN to verify. The trade-off is Sole Prop's lower sending caps, covered in our Sole Proprietor guide.
